Distinguished scientist and co-winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics (1997) Dr. Steve Chu devoteded his recent scientific career to the search for new solutions to our energy challenges—a mission he continues with even greater urgency as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy. President Barack Obama nominated him for the position on December 15, 2008.
The New Jersey Clean Energy Conference attracted a host of new exhibitors and sponsors as the clean energy industry gained support and momentum. According to the BPU, interest in the Conference has grown so significantly over the past four years, this year’s event was increased to two days and moved to a larger venue.
More than 800 people attended this year’s Conference, which presented solutions for saving energy, stimulus packages, job growth, and clean energy innovations.
“The Conference has proved to be an important forum, bringing together government officials and business leaders and laying the groundwork for the energy solutions needed to meet the aggressive goals of Governor Corzine’s Energy Master Plan,” said President Fox. “Clean Energy Now will provide attendees with actionable plans and funding strategies they can implement right away.”
Informative sessions were geared specifically to three groups – Policy Leaders/Government Officials, Business Owners/Facility Managers and Trade Allies/Industry Members. Session topics included “Building Clean Communities,” "Creating Green Jobs," “Charting a Course for Savings,” “Business Opportunities for the Future,” and “Funding Clean Energy Now!”

Fitness’ was the Word of the Day in Stone Harbor with Ron Jaworski’s Fitness Festival
Fitness should be fun for everyone. That was the motto of the First Annual Jaws Youth Fund Fitness Festival that took place June 28th in the picturesque shore town of Stone Harbor, NJ.
The event was designed to appeal to everyone from competitive athletes to families, and even the family dog. The approach proved true with over 700 registered participants and festival attendance in the thousands. “The Fitness Festival was a great event and huge success from both a fundraising and participation perspective. We are thrilled about the number of people who came out for a fun-filled day of fitness and look forward to the future of this event in Stone Harbor,” said ESPN’s Monday Night Football Analyst and former NFL Eagles great Ron Jaworski, co-founder of the event.
The Fitness Festival kicked off with a 5K at 9 a.m. with more than a dozen local mascots holding an honorary ‘start’ by racing the first 50 meters and then cheering on the 5K participants, which consisted of competitive runners, joggers, walkers, families, young children, strollers and even some four-legged friends. Awards were given to the best-dressed team and largest team.
Proceeds from the Fitness Festival benefited the Jaws Youth Fund and the programs it supports. The Jaws Youth Fund is a partnership of the family of Ron Jaworski and the United Way of Camden County. The initiative is designed to impact at-risk youth by supporting innovative programs. Donations can be made directly to the Jaws Youth Fund by visiting them online at www.JawsYouthFund.org
